Change Display Names early on, WebFOCUS Visual Discovery binds charts, links, etc to the Display Name, not the original Field Name. Further, adjustments you make to the Display Name do not automatically propagate throughout the project and you must manually adjust charts, links, etc. Thus, while you can adjust Display Names later, it is best to do it earlier in the process. Changes to other attributes like type and precision generally will not affect existing settings in your project
‘Company: %1%\nCity: %2%\nIndustry: %3%\nEmployees: %4%\nRevenue: %5%\nMargin: %6%%’ Customer~ ID City Industry Employees Revenue Margin~ %
Beware of spaces. Must escape using ~ (as shown in above example in fields “Customer ID” and “Margin %”).
Use a text editor then copy/paste into Property Explorer.
Adjustment made to increase the timeout from the default (I believe to be 90 or 120 sec) was to add this line in web.config:
<httpRuntime executionTimeout=1200 maxRequestLength=4096 useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl=false minFreeThreads=8 minLocalRequestFreeThreads=4 appRequestQueueLimit=100 />
Adjust the session timeout from the default 20 minutes to something larger by changing web.config, for example,
<sessionState mode=InProc timeout=120/>
Solution for this problem: Analyst: Access to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Text is denied
This change should only be required once for a server machine.
Hold down the SHIFT key when the splash screen is displayed when you start WebFOCUS Visual Discovery Workbench AE to reset user preferences saved on your system to the installation defaults.
