Accessing Data Sources

You can use DataMigrator to access data sources across an enterprise and move data from those data sources into various data targets. The DataMigrator Server accesses any iWay-supported data source, which includes numerous formats on over 35 platforms.

The DataMigrator Server can access data that resides locally, that is, on the DataMigrator Server itself. This is the simplest configuration, but not necessarily the most typical.

If all or some of your source data is located on one or more remote servers, the DataMigrator Server establishes a connection with the remote server(s) to access this data.

The following image illustrates how data can be moved or extracted to the DataMigrator Server from a source that is local to the DataMigrator Server.

DataMigrator Server Example

The next image illustrates how data can be moved or extracted to a data target on the DataMigrator Server from a data source that is local to the DataMigrator Server, as well as one that is located on a remote server. With this configuration, despite the different locations of the data sources, the DataMigrator Server can join them together and access the joined files.
