Features and Enhancements
The R6.1 version provides these changes:
- Information Builders Data Connector:
- Direct access
to any WebFOCUS Procedure.
- Access to any WebFOCUS Adapter enabled data source.
- Integrated with WebFOCUS BI Portal security framework.
- User interface improvements:
- Chart graphics are drawn
by default with no shading to provide a simpler look that focuses
more on the data. The previous shaded design may be restored using
the "Tools" -> "Select Chart Colors ..." dialog, via the "Shade
chart elements?" check box. This option affects the current project
only.
- Graphics elements in various charts have been tweaked to improve appearance.
- The Selection State Legend that was previously available at
the bottom of the Color Legend pane has been removed. Counts of
selection state can be obtained using Counts charts instead.
- Labels with measure values in bar and line charts.
- Labels giving numeric values of bars (in bar charts) or lines
(in line charts) are now available in these charts. These can be
configured via the Property Explorer for the chart, or turned on
or off via a button in the chart tool tray. Measure labels can be
turned on or off. The label may be either the total for a category,
the current selected value, or the total percentage. You can request
rounded amounts rather than the full measure amount. The font may
be specified.
- Currency symbols can be specified by the author. Previously,
the currency symbol used was that defined for the current computer
(desktop or server). Now, the author can specify the currency symbol
to use for a field as part of the data source specification used
to load the data. A currency symbol can also be specified with a
format specification when creating a new numeric field in the Expression
Builder.
- Cumulative measures in Line Chart and Summary Sheet. Cumulative
measures provide a cumulative sum or count for a measure in the
display. This is most typically used over time.
- The previous bookmark capability in WebFOCUS Visual Discovery
AE has been removed and replaced by bookmarks defined in the Flight
Recorder. Bookmarks were previously used to select the set of pages
to be exported to output media as well; you can now instead specify
which pages to include explicitly when exporting.
- Localization improvements.
- Titles in PDFs exported
from WebFOCUS Visual Discovery Workbench AE now correctly represent
characters in mulitbyte languages.
- Text exported from grid charts may be imported directly into
Microsoft Excel in locales using UTF8 character sets.
- Null or missing values now by default are represented by the
string "-" rather than "". You can still specify any string that
you wish to use to display missing values in the Project Workshop.
- Notable defects repaired are:
- Excluding when zoomed
in on a Bar Chart caused data in the chart to disappear; it now
shows the remaining data.
- Some data configuration dialogs did not accommodate very long
field names; they now do.
- When publishing to WebFOCUS Visual Discovery Server AE, all
pages were published even if the author specified that only a subset
should be included. Only the requested subset is now published.
- Improvements to reduce memory usage and improve performance
of Data Sheets and Summary Sheets have been made.
- An error could occur where a new session on WebFOCUS Visual
Discovery Server AE failed with the message "No tables after loading
session." This no longer occurs.
If you are upgrading from a version of WebFOCUS Visual Discovery
Workbench AE before R6.0, WebFOCUS Visual Discovery AE Server projects
must be re-published to the Server before they can be used with
WebFOCUS Visual Discovery Server AE Release 6.1.
