In WebFOCUS 8, charting options have been expanded to
include more advanced properties, as well as a new output format
that allows you to render a chart in the browser using a built-in
JavaScript engine.
xNew HTML5 and Flash Chart Engine
Release 8.0 Version 02
WebFOCUS 8 features an entirely new HTML5 chart engine (ARGRAPHENGINE
= JSCHART). These charts will work in both connected and disconnected
mode. The ARGRAPHENGINE = FUSION setting is the default for the
output format type FLEX created in the reporting tools, including
InfoAssist. When this is set in AHTML, it uses the current Flash charts,
by default, on browsers with Adobe® Flash® Player that may not support
the functionality in these JavaScript charts, such as older releases
of Internet Explorer®. These charts will automatically switch to
the AHTML JavaScript charts on browsers that do not support Adobe
Flash Player, such as Safari® on the iPad.
xWebFOCUS Graphics and Charts
You can include API calls in WebFOCUS procedures to
create dynamic, sophisticated graphs that showcase your business
data.
In Release 8.0 Version 06, the following features have
been added for HTML5 charts:
-
Coloring Data Text for Negative Values. You
can activate the chart.dataLabels.UseNegativeColor property
in order to display the data labels for negative values in the color
defined by the chart.dataLabels.negativeColor property.
You can activate this property in an HTML5 chart using the setUseNegativeDataTextColor(true); API
call.
-
Plus and Minus Marker Shapes. The
marker shape, circlePlus, displays a circle
with a plus sign (+) centered in it. The marker shape, circleMinus, displays
a circle with a minus sign (-) centered in it.
Release 8.0 Version 02
-
Suppressing Data Text for Small Risers. The setAutoHideDataTextOnSmallRisers
property, when enabled, suppresses the display of data text if the
height of the riser is smaller than the height of the data text.
-
Making Y-Axis Labels Inherit the Region Color. The setAltFmMatchAxisLabelColor
property controls whether Y-axis Labels associated with the alternate
frame region inherit the color specified for that region. When enabled,
the labels are colored with the color specified for the region.
When disabled, labels are displayed using the default color.
-
Automatic Color Rendering and Styling of Graph Risers. There
are two methods you can use to automatically render the color and
style of graph risers:
-
Repeated Shading. Automatically
shades successive groups of risers by lightening or darkening the
colors used for the risers in the previous group. This is implemented
using color mode 4, a looping index, and a factor for lightening or
darkening the colors.
-
Gradient Coloring. Automatically
creates a gradient effect between the colors for the first and last
risers by defining a starting color and ending color. This type
of coloring is implemented using color mode 5, a starting color,
and an ending color.
-
Custom ToolTip for Server-Side Graphs. You
can customize text that appears in a ToolTip when hovering over
chart risers.
-
Setting the Color of the Page Surrounding the Graph. Graph
functionality has been enhanced to allow setting the color of the
HTML page that surrounds the image directly from the graph procedure.
-
Output Format for Embedding GIF Images Into PDF. GIF
graph images can be embedded into a PDF document by using output
format PDF/GIF.
