The WebFOCUS Reporting Server is installed through an installation utility that prompts you for parameters. The utility installs components that provide data access, translation, computation, formatting, and other back-end processes.
The WebFOCUS Reporting Server should be installed before WebFOCUS Client. If you are updating a previous release of WebFOCUS and wish to migrate your reports and settings, migration will be explained in the WebFOCUS Migration Guide.
Before running the installation utility, do the following:
NETSTAT
You can sort the list of port numbers that are returned by pressing F14.
export JAVA_HOME=/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/JavaVM/jdk60/32bit
The server uses this variable to find certain native files in JRE directories. It needs these files to run its JSCOM3 listener. The server uses JSCOM3 when it creates graphics, accesses data sources through JDBC, or launches other Java processes. Not all WebFOCUS processing requires JSCOM3. However, it is a good idea to enable it. If JRE 1.6 or higher is not installed on your system, installing one is recommended.
The server can be installed in two ways:
For more information on running a text-based or silent version of the WebFOCUS Reporting Server installation, see the Server Installation for IBM i chapter in the WebFOCUS Reporting Server Installation manual.

Installation and initial configuration steps are provided in the Server Installation for IBM i chapter in the WebFOCUS Reporting Server Installation manual. The license key you enter during server installation determines whether a WebFOCUS Reporting Server or a Full-Function Server is installed. You should perform the same configuration steps described for a Full-Function Server on machines containing the source data needed for WebFOCUS reports.
See the Server Installation for IBM i chapter in the WebFOCUS Reporting Server Installation manual on how to access the installation software and for detailed information on any of the prompted parameters. To exit from the installation program at any time, type QUIT.
To run the WebFOCUS Reporting Server installation:
Note: Do not install the server as security officer.
CALL instLibName/ISETUP
where:
Is the name of the installation library that you downloaded. The default name is I77LIB.
Note: Most installation procedure prompts will allow you to press Enter to accept the default.
You are prompted for your license key.
You are prompted for the name of the installation media library.
You are prompted for the password of the server administrator ID (iadmin).
You are prompted for the server system ID (iserver).
You are prompted to review the default values of the remaining installation parameters.
The default values are:
Note: By default, the Century Corp demo files are not installed. If you want to install the demo files, do not type Y. Instead, continue to step 10, where you will have the option of installing the demo files in one or more languages. Note that all other demo files are installed automatically, in English, as part of the standard installation.
Supply the location on disk in which to install the software. This location is also known as EDAHOME.
Note: The EDAHOME directory path name directory path name must conform to the pattern *ibi/srv77*/home* and must be an absolute path.
EDAHOME Library Name (max length 9) (Default=srv77)
Note: This is the QSYS library location for programs.
Supply the location on disk in which to configure the software. This location is also known as EDACONF. (Default=/home/iadmin/ibi/srv77/wfs)
Note: This is the location for the default configuration. EDACONF must be in the same srv77 path as EDAHOME. The lowest level EDAHOME directory (home) becomes the server type directory in EDACONF.
Supply the location on disk where the product will look for user profiles and the admin.cfg file. This location is also known as EDAPRFU. (Default=/home/iadmin/ibi/profiles)
Supply the location on disk where the product will look for applications. This location is also known as APPROOT. (Default=/home/iadmin/ibi/apps)
Demo Files: Would you like to install New Century Demo files (Y/N Default=Y)?
Enter HTTP Listener Port (HTTP_BASE_PORT). This is the first of three consecutive port numbers that are open and dedicated to the HTTP Listener and other IP based services. (Default=8121)
Enter TCP Listener Port (TCP_BASE_PORT). The TCP Listener Port number must be outside the selected HTTP range (8121 - 8123).
Several progress messages display while the server is being installed.
Would you like to start the Server Workspace (Y/N Default=Y)?

To run a server in OPSYS security mode in IBM i, you must satisfy the requirements that are described in this section. This must be performed whenever the server is installed or reinstalled with fixes. Certain files must be owned and run under the QSECOFR profile or a QSECOFR-authorized ID (such as iserver) that allows impersonation for the OPSYS security mode. Running with OPSYS security mode requires you to send a password to connect with the server, or to use some other form of verification. Although general installation of the server software is handled by iadmin (an ordinary user ID), this step requires QSECOFR authority. To change ownerships, perform the following steps:
To enable security:
CHGOBJ OBJ(SRV77/TSCOM300) USRPRF(*OWNER) CHGOBJOWN OBJ(SRV77/TSCOM300) OBJTYPE(*PGM) NEWOWN(QSECOFR)
