The following are known issues in installation and configuration of WebFOCUS:

• As a result of architecture changes in WebFOCUS Business Intelligence Portals and Favorites between WebFOCUS Release 8.0.x and WebFOCUS Release 8.1.x, conversion of existing WebFOCUS Release 8.0.x Portals and Favorites is required. This conversion may be performed automatically during the upgrade process or manually using conversion utilities after the upgrade is complete. For more information about running the conversion utilities manually, see in Converting WebFOCUS Portals and Favorites When Upgrading in the WebFOCUS and ReportCaster Installation and Configuration manual for your operating system.

  Important: Before installing WebFOCUS Release 8.1 Version 03 or a later 8.1.x release, it is strongly recommended that you back up your existing WebFOCUS Release 8.0.x Repository database.

• The Windows program menu shortcut for Start Distribution Server and Stop Distribution Server have the Run As Administrator option enabled, by default. On some Windows machines, for example Windows Server 2012 R2, running the shortcut ignores the Start in location and instead runs in c:\Windows\System32. This produces an error.
• On some 64-bit Windows machines, the Derby service for WebFOCUS Release 8, with a 32-bit Java configuration (version 1.7x), fails to start.

  As a workaround:

  1. Copy msvcr100.dll from <JAVA_HOME>(32 bit)\bin to <DERBY_HOME>\bin.
  2. Start Derby.
  3. Manually create the repository tables.
  4. Start the Distribution Server.
