You can perform event-based scheduling, which executes a flow from an external application. It can be useful when you want a remote application to run a flow. For example, you might have an application that requires a flow to run. You can add a button to your application, which sends a request to the DM Server to start a flow. Event-based scheduling can also be useful in a job that updates data. After the update, a message can be sent to the DM Server, instructing it to run a flow. For example, when running a batch job on USS, you can make the final step sending a message to the server telling it to execute the flow. In this instance, the flow would access the latest data.
