The following are known issues
in ReportCaster:
-
When the format of a report
is not overridden in the schedule, the Report Library will display
EXL2K as the format in the case of a report whose output is EXL2K
TEMPLATE, EXL2K FORMULA, or EXL2K PIVOT.
-
When distributing by FTP
using Gzip as the Single File Compression Method and using the default
zip file name, the schedule log message contains incorrect file
names.
-
In
earlier releases, ReportCaster supported Zip encryption, which occurred
in the following ways:
-
When
a chart is scheduled in HTML format and is burst, ReportCaster generates
an extra blank report, in addition to the report for each burst
value.
-
Totals
that display in the subfooter of a report are incorrect when the
report also issues a WHERE TOTAL and is burst and distributed by
ReportCaster. This problem occurs with Reporting Server Release
7.7 Versions 03, 04, and 05. Contact Customer Support to request
the fix for Reporting Server Release 7.7 Version 03. This problem
is fixed in Reporting Server Release 7.7 Version 04 gen 789 and
Release 7.7 Version 05 gen 124.
- In WebFOCUS 8, the
legacy ReportCaster API uses the ReportCaster and Library Content
folders that are created by the migration process. If you have not
migrated content to WebFOCUS 8 from an earlier release of WebFOCUS,
you must manually create the ReportCaster folder in order to use
the legacy ReportCaster API to create a schedule, unless you specify
the full IBFS path in the Schedule description. The ReportCaster
folder must be created with the Auto Create My Content Folders property set.
The Library Content folder(s) created by migration are the default
destinations for Library output from scheduled Managed Reporting
procedures and Reporting Server procedures. These folders must exist
unless a full IBFS path is specified as the destination for Library
output at schedule creation time.
-
Certain
security authorizations that are respected by the GUI tool are not
applied to ReportCaster API programs. Users can create some objects
(Access Lists, Distribution Lists, and Schedules) in a folder where
they are allowed to create new items.
-
The
OK button is not active when the first value in a Static or Dynamic
parameter value list is selected. The workaround is to select a
value other than the first value and then change the selected value
to the first value.
- When using Mozilla®
Firefox®, if you select Save in the ReportCaster
Console and then select the Prevent this page from creating additional
dialogs check box within the Please ensure that you
restart the Distribution Server message dialog box, this will result
in subsequent attempts to save changes by displaying a message informing
you that the save request failed to execute. To recover from this
error, close and reopen the ReportCaster Console. When you save configuration
changes, do not select the Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs
check box.
Important Configuration Considerations When the Distribution Server is Installed Separately From the WebFOCUS Client
- When the ReportCaster Distribution Server is installed as
a stand-alone server, on a machine that is separate from the WebFOCUS
Client, you must perform additional manual steps to ensure that
configuration changes made through the WebFOCUS Administration Console
are available to ReportCaster. This is because the stand-alone Distribution
Server does not have access to the WebFOCUS configuration files
being updated by the console. This is especially important when
configuring external security for WebFOCUS, since your ReportCaster
jobs may not run properly if the Distribution Server is not using
the same security settings as the WebFOCUS Client.
The recommended
procedure is to make changes to WebFOCUS, as per the documentation,
and then test them with a web browser. When the settings are verified, perform
the following steps to ensure that the configuration is available
to ReportCaster:
- Copy the webconfig.xml file from the
…\ibi\WebFOCUS80\config directory to the …\ibi\WebFOCUS80\config
directory on the stand-alone Distribution Server machine.
- Copy the odin.cfg file from the …\ibi\WebFOCUS80\client\etc
directory to the …\ibi\WebFOCUS80\client\etc directory on the stand-alone
Distribution Server machine.
- If the installation path of the Distribution Server is different
from the installation path of the WebFOCUS Client, edit the webconfig.xml
file on the Distribution Server and globally change the installation
path to match the installation path of the Distribution Server.
For example, if the WebFOCUS Client is installed on C:\ibi\WebFOCUS80
and the Distribution Server is installed on D:\ibi\WebFOCUS80, globally
change C:\ibi\WebFOCUS80 to D:\ibi\WebFOCUS80 in the webconfig.xml
file on the Distribution Server.
- Restart the Distribution Server and test the scheduled job behavior.
End User Scheduling Tool
The following is a known issue in the
ReportCaster End User Scheduling tool:
- When using the Recurrences
ribbon, the non-visual user is not able to return to the tool after
pressing the Spacebar key or the OK button. Although the tool does
not close, non-visual users believe that they were sent back to
the tree.
Library Reports
The following are known issues in Library
reports:
- When you double-click
an On-demand Paging Library report in the BI Portal tree, the report
displays but is missing the Web Viewer control bar at the bottom.
Select the View option to view the report.
ReportCaster Explorer displays report in the View pane.
- When viewing a On-demand
Paging report from the Library Versions View Pane, the Web Viewer
control bar is not fully visible and displays with a vertical scroll
control. The workaround is to view the On-demand Paging report in
a new window by selecting the Open option
from the toolbar or the context menu for the selected Library report,
as shown in the following image.
- Report expiration
is not working for all expiration types.
