Effective with WebFOCUS Version 8, the ReportCaster Java Bean API is discontinued and will not be distributed with Version 8. While the ReportCaster Java Bean API is discontinued in Version 8, applications written with the ReportCaster Java API will continue to be supported in Version 8.

The ReportCaster Java API was introduced in Version 5.3 to replace the ReportCaster Java Bean API introduced in Version 5.2. At that time, it was recommended that developers use the ReportCaster Java API to build applications and that the Java Bean API would be functionally stabilized at the Version 5.2 level. Since Version 5.3, the ReportCaster Java API has been maintained and includes support for new features introduced in Version 7.1.x, 7.6.x, and 7.7.x.
