The following are known issues
in ReportCaster:
-
To enable Distribution
Server traces without turning on Job Traces, modify the Distribution
start up command with -DRC_SYS_LOGGING=true after the java command.
-
With Unicode
characters in a Zip file name, the file names are corrupted after
you decompress a .zip file in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008
R2. This problem is fixed in Release 8.1 Version 03 and requires
the following hotfix from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2704299/en-us
-
When creating a ReportCaster
schedule using the COMT format, you must check the Override the
Format Specified in the Procedure check box and select the COMT
format. Otherwise, the output may lose the CR/LF (Carriage Return
/ Line Feed) when producing the .csv file.
-
In
WebFOCUS 8, you do not need to specify the format in the schedule.
However, there is a known issue with this feature. If the scheduled
report is a compound report that uses the stabilized SET COMPOUND
OPEN syntax, you must select the Override the Format
Specified in the Procedure check box and specify the
format in the schedule when scheduling this report. Otherwise, the
report will not be distributed. Compound reports produced by the
WebFOCUS and Developer Studio reporting tools (for example, InfoAssist
and Document Composer) do not require that the Override
the Format Specified in the Procedure checkbox be checked.
-
A
published schedule runs as the creator of the schedule. A user that
is allowed to edit a published schedule may make a change to the
schedule that the creator of the schedule is not permitted to make.
In this case, the schedule will fail at run time. For example, a
user may change the Distribution List or Access List used in the
schedule to a private Distribution List or Access List that is not
available to the creator of the schedule. When the changed schedule
runs, it will fail due to inability of the creator to retrieve the
Distribution List or Access List from the WebFOCUS Repository.
-
When
a user schedules a report to the Library with Library Email notification,
an email is sent with a link to the Library report. When the user
clicks on this link, they are prompted to sign in to WebFOCUS. If
the Anonymous User has Library privileges, the user clicking the
link in the Library Email notification will receive a 401 error
message, instead of being prompted to sign in. Remove the Library
privilege from the Anonymous user to have the WebFOCUS sign-in page
display when users click the Library Email notification link.
-
When
running a schedule through the Servlet API, you must supply a schedule
ID, instead of a schedule description.
- When
using DSTRUN in WebFOCUS Release 8, as in earlier releases, you
can supply either the schedule description or the schedule ID.
- For a migrated schedule:
- You can use the description
or the schedule ID.
- For a new schedule:
- You should use the
full IBFS path and file name, instead of the schedule description.
- You can use the Schedule
ID, provided that it matches the IBFS ID. If the IDs are not the
same, you can use the IBFS ID. The IBFS ID can be found by right-clicking the
Schedule and selecting View Log. The empty
log is shown in the following image.
-
Maps
can be distributed to the Library and Managed Reporting only. Maps
distributed by Email or FTP do not open correctly.
-
When
you distribute a file by FTP using GZIP and you do not supply a
file name for the compressed file, the default file name is used.
However, the schedule log message contains an incorrect file name.
This does not happen if you specify a name for the compressed file.
-
When
a chart is scheduled in HTML format and is burst, ReportCaster generates
an extra blank report, in addition to the report for each burst
value.
- In WebFOCUS 8, the
legacy ReportCaster API uses the ReportCaster and Library Content
folders that are created by the migration process. If you have not
migrated content to WebFOCUS 8 from an earlier release of WebFOCUS,
you must manually create the ReportCaster folder in order to use
the legacy ReportCaster API to create a schedule, unless you specify
the full IBFS path in the Schedule description. The ReportCaster
folder must be created with the Auto Create My Content Folders property set.
The Library Content folder(s) created by migration are the default
destinations for Library output from scheduled Managed Reporting
procedures and Reporting Server procedures. These folders must exist
unless a full IBFS path is specified as the destination for Library
output at schedule creation time.
-
Certain
security authorizations that are respected by the GUI tool are not
applied to ReportCaster API programs. Users can create some objects
(Access Lists, Distribution Lists, and Schedules) in a folder where
they are allowed to create new items.
- When using Mozilla®
Firefox, if you select Save in the ReportCaster
Console and then select the Prevent this page from creating additional
dialogs check box within the Please ensure that you
restart the Distribution Server message dialog box, this will result
in subsequent attempts to save changes by displaying a message informing
you that the save request failed to execute. To recover from this
error, close and reopen the ReportCaster Console. When you save configuration
changes, do not select the Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs
check box.
End User Scheduling Tool
The following is a known issue in the
ReportCaster End User Scheduling tool:
- When using the Recurrences
ribbon, the non-visual user is not able to return to the tool after
pressing the Spacebar key or the OK button. Although the tool does
not close, non-visual users believe that they were sent back to
the tree.
Library Reports
The following are known issues in Library
reports:
- When you double-click
an On-demand Paging Library report in the BI Portal tree, the report
appears, but is missing the Web Viewer control bar at the bottom.
Select the View option to view the report.
ReportCaster Explorer displays report in the View pane.
- When viewing an
On-demand Paging report from the Library Versions View Pane, the
Web Viewer control bar is not fully visible and displays with a
vertical scroll control. The workaround is to view the On-demand
Paging report in a new window by selecting the Open option
from the toolbar or the context menu for the selected Library report,
as shown in the following image.
- Report expiration
is not working for all expiration types.
