The following are upgrade considerations
for App Studio:
migrating Developer Studio pages to App Studio, ensure that the
Developer Studio page runs, as expected, by right-clicking the page
and running the page.
- HTML pages created in Developer Studio can be converted to App
Studio pages by opening them in App Studio. Opening the Developer
Studio page in App Studio converts the page in memory, and the conversion
is complete when the page is saved in App Studio. This conversion
is supported only for pages created in Release 7.6.9 and higher.
As of WebFOCUS Release 8.1 Version 05, the Show
All Files in Associated Paths option has been removed from the
Environments Tree panel. This option is still available in the Environments
Detail panel. Additionally, you can now select it in the Open File
dialog box, as shown in the following image.
As of Release 8.1 Version 05, the Bold,
Italic, and Underline options for formatting font are no longer
available from the shortcut menu in the HTML canvas or Document
canvas. To access these options, you can highlight the font that
you want to style, right-click the text, point to Style,
and then click Font. These options are available
in the Font dialog box.
As of Release 8.1 Version 05, when working
with HTML pages, you can no longer add a new ActiveX component.
This command, which was available on the ribbon, from the Components tab,
in the Objects group, and from the HTML canvas shortcut menu, has
been removed. If you have HTML pages with existing ActiveX components,
you can edit them, but you cannot add new components.
- As you add objects
to the canvas with the Autosize Children option turned on, the existing objects
will temporarily move out of the way so that you can draw the new
objects and then the existing objects will return to the correct
- Running a report,
chart, HTML page, or document using Internet Explorer no longer produces
the pending screen “Waiting for response...”.
Responsive Design Framework Add-on (RDF Add-on) for WebFOCUS App
Studio provides responsive templates that make it easy for you to
create responsive content that automatically adapts for display
on different window sizes and devices. As of Release 8.1 Version
05M, the templates now contain several usability improvements that
resulted from field testing.
The DBA user
can now create new synonyms directly from the Metadata canvas. On
the Home tab, click Data, click Synonym
via Metadata Canvas, and then click the Create
New Synonym button.
The following are upgrade considerations for App Studio
App Studio fails to connect to WebFOCUS environments
that have been upgraded from Release 8.0.x to Release 8.1.x. When
you access an existing environment configured with App Studio or
if you try to add a new environment, you will receive the following
error message: The environment being connected to is prior to Release
8.0 Version 05 and cannot be supported.
To correct the issue,
update the drive:\ibi\WebFOCUS80\config securitysettings.xml
file as follows:
<property name="ConcurrentSessionFilterEnabled" value="true"/>
<property name="ConcurrentSessionFilterEnabled" value="false"/>
value=" SessionFixationProtectionStrategy "/>
The Select Data Source
dialog box and the Open File dialog box both require you to select a
folder in the Environments Tree panel. When you select a folder
under the Local Projects node, these dialog boxes no longer include
the following radio button options, which were available in the
- Show All Files in Associated Paths
- Show Files in Selected Path Only
When you select
a folder under the Projects node, the Select Data Source and Open
File dialog boxes still retain these two radio button options.
